Rainwater Harvesting System in health care center

Need

Since 4 years low rainfall in our state results in lower ground water level that’s why we was faceing the water shortage in summer season in our health facility

Day by day patient load is increasing in our facility. And water consumption is also increasing.

Previously we have water consumption of 4000 ltr to 6000 ltr daily. Now we required around 6000 ltr to 8000 ltr water daily.

So, we decided to save water by rainwater harvesting system.

Rainwater Harvesting System

Description of the model

Capacity

Total roof area=12200 square feet/1133 square meter

Filtration tank capacity=60654 liter

Total rainfall (2019-2020) =54 inch/ 1371 mm

Roof catchment capacity=Annual rainfall(in mm) X Roof surface area (in square meter) 1371 mm X 1133 square meter = 1553343 Liters

Rain water for infiltration= 410432 gallons/1553343 liter approx

Evidence of Effectiveness

Previously in 2018-19 the ground water level in our tubewell was around 250-300 feet. And after implementing the rainwater harvesting system the ground water level decreases to 180 to 200 feet.

Now hospital’s water need for drinking water and other water requirement is satisfy even in summer season very smoothly.
